When the US Director of The National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, Dr Anthony Fauci grinned behind Donald Trump last month at his suggestion the ‘Deep State’ were working against his Presidency, most people interpreted Fauci’s grin as a wry, derogatory grin followed by a ‘face-palm’ – behind his ‘boss’s’ back.

However there is another possible explanation.

I strongly suspect that Fauci already knows as Trump does, that despite his anti-establishment rhetoric, it was the ‘Deep State’ themselves that actually put the Trump regime into the Whitehouse in the first place. And that during Trumps impromptu attempt at Machiavellian misdirection, Fauci couldn’t help himself with something known as ‘Duping Delight’ – a micro-aggression displayed by ‘Dark Triad’ types.

Time will tell but it’s entirely possible that Fauci wasn’t smirking behind Trump’s back but that the ‘joke’ – steeped in utter contempt – is on us; the watching world.

And in a moment of narcissistic weakness he was simply too obvious in holding a complicit give-away grin for just that few seconds too long…
